Simmering up some homemade marinara magic today! There’s something incredibly satisfying about combining fresh tomatoes, garlic, and oregano into a rich, flavorful sauce. The aroma of the ingredients melding together is pure comfort.
It is great how easy this recipe is—just a few simple steps and you’ve got a sauce that tastes like it took hours to make. Perfect for topping pasta, pizza, or anything else you crave. Cooking doesn’t get much better than this.
Ingredients:
- 2 cans diced tomatoes
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 8 cloves of garlic
- 2 tbsp fresh oregano
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- salt to taste
First, dice the onion, mince the garlic, and chop up the oregano.
Heat up the oil in a pot, then add onions and salt.
Once the onions have cooked down for a few minutes, add the garlic.
After about a minute, add the tomatoes and oregano. If the tomatoes are unsalted, add more salt here.
Mix everything together, bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Simmer on low for around 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on how much time you have.
Now that the mixture is done simmering, add it to a blender and blend until smooth. Serve it, jar it, or eat it with a spoon. Most importantly, enjoy!
